Production Management

Tales of Hoffmann, MWO

We provide full production management for all sizes of projects and productions – managing budgets, liaising with designers and directors, facilitating set design and set building, procuring and managing the technical team, procuring and maintaining equipment, liaising with venues and organising schedules. We are used to working to strict budgets and accurately controlling the expenditure of our projects. Some examples of our range of activities are detailed below:

Mid Wales Opera

La Boheme, MWO

We provide ongoing production management for Mid Wales Opera. Mid Wales Opera mounts a new production each year, and tours to some thirty venues in Wales and England, giving some 35 performances. We tour with between 10 to 15 performers, an orchestra of 10 and a crew of 5. We usually aim to be able to fit–up, perform, and strike in one day. We tour to diverse venues from Buxton Opera House and Snape Maltings, to Ludlow Assembly Rooms. We are responsible for the entire technical side of the company, from initial design meetings to the last night, including budgets, personnel, and tour management and administration.

Criccieth Festival

Culwch ac Olwen

We provided production management for a one off project of a specially commissioned community opera, Culhwch ac Olwen as part of the Criccieth Festival. Although some of the musicians, soloists and staff were professional, the majority of the participants, including the chorus, the costume makers and technical support, were drawn from the local community, and we united these many different elements into an integrated production.

Theatr Powys

Something that happened just south of Solitude

We have provided production and tour management for many Theatr Powys Community Tours, touring six actors and two stage management around village halls and small to medium scale venues. The sets are built to fit into a 10 ft Luton van, and designed for quick, easy fit-ups. In village halls we can build a complete theatre with set, lighting, sound, masking and a small seating unit in three to four hours.

We have also production managed Theatre in Education shows that tour with three to four actors and sometimes a stage manager. These are built to tour in a transit and fit up in under an hour (see photo).

Glansevern Hall

Glansevern Courtyard

Glansevern Hall is a Georgian house and gardens near Welshpool. For an open air evening of opera, we built a raised, covered stage in the courtyard, provided and operated a lighting and sound system, and stage managed the event.
